iPhone SE 2022 review: Ageing, but going strong with Apple A15 Bionic chip

Image
American technology giant Apple recently refreshed its entry-level smartphone, the iPhone SE , with a new processor – Apple A15 Bionic. Though similar to the last generation model with regard to design, which looks underwhelming due to small screen footprint and thick bezels, it goes strong with all the improvements the new chip brings to the table. Among other things, the Apple A15 Bionic brings significant improvement in both processes and graphics performance. Moreover, it makes the smartphone future-proof by enabling support for the 5G network. Starting with performance gains, the iPhone SE 2022 edition handles everyday operations with ease and does a good job with regard to heavy-duty tasks. Graphics performance is good too, be it for resource-intensive gaming titles or video editing apps like Adobe Premiere Rush. Read More

Apple Inc.’s top software engineer criticized the security of his own Mac operating system in a bid to explain why the company shouldn’t be forced by a judge to loosen its hold over iPhone and iPad app distribution, as Epic Games Inc. is demanding. Apple app store Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, testified Wednesday at a trial in federal court in Oakland, California, that his experience with imported malware on the macOS system shows how security would be eroded if the company allowed iPhone and iPad users to install software from the web or other stores, as it does on the Mac. “Today we have a level of malware on the Mac that we don’t find acceptable,” primarily because the system allows users to install software that isn’t vetted by Apple, Federighi said. That makes it less secure than iOS and iPadOS, the operating systems that power the iPhone and iPad, he said. Read More
