Chitra Ramkrishna, Subramanian ran money making scheme, alleges Sebi

  Former NSE MD &CEO Chitra Ramkrishna and Group Operating Officer and her Advisor Anand Subramanian ran a money-making scheme during their stint at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has alleged. The order passed by Sebi dated February 11 highlights frequent increase in Subramanian's compensation package without proper appraisal, documentation or file notings and with no involvement of the Human Resource (HR) head or the Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC). Furthermore, the order talks about Subramanian being directed to “withdraw and surrender” to the unknown person a gross amount per month as “gratitude.” Read Full Article Here

Facebook parent Meta's social VR platform Horizon hits 300,000 users

  Meta's social virtual reality (VR) platform Horizon has reached 300,000 monthly users, a growth of 10 times since its roll-out in early December. According to a report in The Verge, Meta spokesperson Joe Osborne confirmed this, saying it included users of Horizon Worlds and Horizon Venues which is a separate app for attending live events in VR. Horizon Worlds was rolled out to Oculus Quest VR headset users in the US and Canada in early December. "It's time. 10,000 worlds have already been created. Drop in and play, build or just hang out. The possibilities are endless," Horizon Worlds posted in a tweet. Horizon Worlds was recently featured in Meta's Super Bowl ad, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg called it "core to our metaverse vision". Apple update lets you unlock iPhone with Face ID while wearing a mask

  Apple Inc.’s next iPhone software update will finally address a grumble that’s been bugging users since the Covid pandemic started: You’ll finally be able to unlock your phone without first taking off your mask. The updated iphone Face ID feature is expected to work on iPhones and iPads and is likely to be included in iOS 15.4, expected to be released sometime in the first half of March. The new software is also expected to debut Universal Control, which lets customers use a single keyboard and trackpad across multiple iPads and Macs. Apple’s 3-D facial recognition system was launched back in 2017, as a feature of the new iPhone X. 'The Power of the Dog' tops Oscar nominations with 12; 'Dune' nabs 10

  Jane Campion's gothic western The Power of the Dog led nominations to the 94th Academy Awards, where streaming services more than ever before swept over Hollywood's top honors. In nominations announced Tuesday, Campion's film landed a leading 12 nominations, including nods for best picture, best director and all of its top actors: Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Campion, a nominee for 1993's The Piano, became the first woman to ever be nominated twice for best director. Last year, Chlo Zhao became just the second woman to ever win the award. Campion's director of photography, Ari Wegner, also became the second woman ever nominated for best cinematography. The only previous woman to do so was Rachel Morrison for Mudbound in 2018. Prime Video teams up with hayu to bring popular reality TV shows to India

  Streaming service Prime Video has collaborated with hayu, NBCUniversal's ad-free OTT platform, to bring popular reality TV shows such as "The Real Housewives", "Below Deck" and "Top Chef" to the Indian audiences. hayu will be available on Amazon's streaming service as an add-on subscription, the company said in a statement on Thursday.  hayu brings to Prime Video an extensive library of international reality shows which also includes "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and its spin-offs along with many others, including "Million Dollar Listing", "Vanderpump Rules", "Summer House", "The Real Murders Of Orange County", "License To Kill" and "Family Karma". Apple Music free trial slashed down from three to one month

  American tech giant Apple's three-month free trial for new users has been reduced down to one month in some countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and the UK among others. Apple Music free trial As per GSM Arena, this move does not affect the limited six-month trial program awarded for a limited time with the purchase of some Apple devices, like AirPods, HomePod mini and some Beats products. Monthly subscription rates are also seemingly unaffected as of yet. An individual Apple Music plan still costs USD 9.99 (USD 4.99 for college students), and a five-person family plan is USD 14.99. There is also the newer Apple Music Voice Plan, which gives you limited access to some of the music catalog through voice and Siri, without spatial or lossless audio for USD 4.99 a month. Instagram rolls out bulk delete features, security checkup worldwide

  Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram has announced that several features, including 'Your activity' will start rolling out globally. The company said that people will now be able to bulk manage -- delete, archive -- their content and their interactions including comments, likes, story sticker reactions, etc. Instagram latest news "At the end of last year, we started testing a new experience for people to see and manage their activity on Instagram in one place," the company said in a blogpost.   Dyson on Monday launched its first cordless vacuum cleaner with laser detect technology in India. Called Dyson V12 Detect Slim , the vacuum cleaner is priced at Rs 58,900 and it will be available on Dyson online store and Dyson demo stores from February 7, 2022. The vacuum cleaner boasts a new cleaner head with laser for on surface dust detection and piezo sensor in the vacuum body to measure the dust it detects. Dyson V12 vacuum cleaner The Dyson V12 Detect Slim uses adapted laser technology to reveal hidden dust, integrating a diode laser into the cleaner head that is positioned at a 1.5-degree angle, 7.3mm off the ground to create the contrast between dust and floor. Apple Watch helping the elderly meet daily activity goals: Study

  A team of researchers who used activity data shared from the Apple Heart and Movement Study has found that participants ages 65 and older were more likely than their younger counterparts to stay on track, meeting their goal of at least 150 minutes of activity per week. Apple Watch Heart study The researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital in the US, in collaboration with the American Heart Association and Apple, found that after analysing more than 18 million workouts logged using Apple Watch during the pandemic, study participants relied on getting their activity minutes in by walking, cycling, and running the most. Across genders and ages, participants with above-average Cardio Fitness levels averaged more than 200 minutes of activity per week, while those with high Cardio Fitness averaged more than 300 minutes of activity per week, the findings showed. Prabhas' multilingual drama 'Radhe Shyam' to release in March

  Much-awaited romantic-drama " Radhe Shyam ", starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, is set to be released on March 11. Earlier, the multilingual film was gearing up for a January 14 opening but was pushed due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country. Budget 2022: India catches up with global fad of digital currency

  Crypto or digital currencies are the latest fad across the world and India will next fiscal, beginning April 1, have its own version of the same which essentially would mirror the prevalent physical currency in digital form. The currency, called 'digital rupee', will be issued by the Reserve Bank in digital form and will be fungible with physical currency. Budget 2022 The exact regulation governing this Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is yet to be finalised. CBDC is a digital or virtual currency but it is not comparable to the private virtual currencies or cryptocurrency that have mushroomed over the last decade. Private virtual currencies do not represent any person's debt or liabilities as there is no issuer. They are not money and certainly not currency.
