Android 13 to add faster shortcuts for scanning QR codes: Report

  Android 12 has brought a lot of additional features and now a new report has claimed that the next-gen Android 13 platform may add the ability to launch QR code scans via the lock screen. According to Android Police, the screenshots show that one will get an option to enable "show QR scanner" on the lock screen. This feature is visible in the quick toggle settings. While Google might be planning to add this feature now, Samsung already offers this option. Telegram rolls out new privacy features for chats, groups on Android, iOS

  Encrypted messaging app Telegram has started rolling out its latest monthly update for Android and iOS devices, adding numerous new features for users. Some significant features include protected content in groups and channels, deleting messages by date, log in via calls, and many others. "The new Protected Content feature will help creators protect the content they publish on Telegram and ensure that it is available only for their intended audience. In order to provide complete control to users over their digital footprint, the Delete by Date feature will enable them to easily find and delete date specific chats from the history," the company said in a statement. Google announces initiatives to help India's digital transformation

  With the aim to extend the benefits of India's growing digital economy to more people, tech giant Google on Thursday announced several initiatives to help India's digital transformation journey. The company announced a pilot of the first-ever Google Assistant-enabled, end-to-end vaccine booking flow that will guide users through the process of booking a vaccination appointment on the COWIN website. "We have worked closely with COWIN to enable this integration, where people everywhere will be able to easily book a vaccine appointment in a more guided manner," the company said in a blogpost. OnePlus Nord 2 Pac-Man Edition's India pricing revealed ahead of launch

  Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is gearing up to launch in India the Oneplus Nord 2 5G Pac-Man Edition . Ahead of the launch, however, the smartphone’s India pricing has been revealed by Amazon on its product listing page. The OnePlus limited edition smartphone will be available at a premium of Rs 3,000 (Rs 37,999) over the standard model (Rs 34,999) of similar specifications. Speaking of specifications, OnePlus has not confirmed the exact details about the Nord 2 5G Pac-Man Edition but this limited edition smartphone is expected to have the processor, storage and RAM configuration, display, and other specifications same as the top-tier model of the standard edition. Nikon launches new full-frame mirrorless camera starting at Rs 475,995

  Japanese imaging giant Nikon on Friday launched a full-frame (Nikon FX-format) Z series mirrorless camera Nikon Z 9 in the Indian market. The new Z 9 body only will be available for sale across Nikon Authorized Store in India starting end of November 2021 at Rs 4,75,995. According to the company, the 'Z 9' features the world's largest variety of simultaneous subject detection amongst mirrorless cameras, with its tenacious autofocus (AF) offering, and the Real-Live Viewfinder without blackout period. "Users can enjoy shooting with stunning 8K in-camera recording for up to 125 minutes for making it the most practical camera for location shoots. Apple to release new watch on October 15 following production snags

  Apple Inc. set a release date of Oct. 15 for its latest smartwatch, a sign that it’s coping with production challenges that had dogged the new device. The company plans to begin taking orders for the product -- called the Apple Watch Series 7 -- this Friday, Oct. 8, starting at 8 a.m. New York time. It will then hit stores a week later, Apple said in a statement on its website. The Series 7 watch was unveiled on Sept. 14, but Apple left the release date vague at the time, saying it would be “later this fall.” The device has a bigger display, marking the first time the company has enlarged the watch’s screen since the Series 4 three years ago. TikTok surpasses 1 billion monthly active users; US, Europe biggest market

  Short video-making platform TikTok has crossed one billion monthly active users around the world. The video-sharing platform, owned by ByteDance , said it had about 55 million global users by January 2018. That number grew to more than 271 million by December 2018 and 507 million by December 2019. "On behalf of the TikTok team, I want to say thank you," TikTok COO Vanessa Pappas said. "Wherever you are in the world, we definitely couldn't do this without you." Social media giant Facebook in comparison in the second quarter had 3.51 billion monthly users across its family of apps, up from 3.45 billion in the first quarter.   HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, on Monday launched the 'Nokia C01 Plus', the latest addition to its C-series smartphones with a strategic partnership with Reliance Retail Ltd in India. The Nokia C01 Plus is available in India starting Monday in blue and purple colour variants for Rs 5,999 across leading offline retail stores, e-commerce platforms and Nokia.com. Customers who choose to avail the JioExclusive offer will get an instant price support of 10 per cent on the best buy price, and will have to pay Rs 5,399. Apple to develop its electric car alone to avoid further delays

  Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is reportedly developing its electric vehicle alone without the assistance of another automaker. According to Maeil Economic Daily (via MacRumors), the iPhone maker is currently selecting final parts suppliers Earlier, the tech giant contacted BMW, Hyundai, Nissan, and Toyota to explore joint development and contract production agreements. WhatsApp will soon let users choose video quality before sharing

  WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that lets users share videos in high quality. The name of the feature is 'Video Upload Quality' and it's currently under development, hence it's not available for the public. According to The Verge, the feature will be available for users in a future update. This new feature has been currently released as part of WhatsApp Android Beta version 2.21.14.6. In a future update, users will be able to choose the video upload quality by picking one of 3 options, namely, Auto (recommended), Best Quality, and data saver. In the case of auto, WhatsApp will detect the best compression algorithm for that specific video.   Twitter has added a new prompt in the timelines of users to help them get correct vaccination information in their respective countries including India. The new prompt appears at the top of users' Twitter feeds for both iOS and Android users. "As COVID-19 vaccinations become more widely available, we want you to have access to the latest vaccine info in your country," Twitter said in a tweet on Monday. "This week you'll see a prompt in your timeline that links to sources about vaccine safety, efficacy, and news from public health experts," the company added.
