Comedian Chris Rock 'still processing' Will Smith's slap at the Oscars

  Comedian Chris Rock has finally broken his silence on Will Smith slapping him at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony. During a stand-up show in Boston on Wednesday, Rock walked out to two boisterous standing ovations that lasted roughly two minutes, The Hollywood Reporter said. Rock, 57 opened his comedy with, "How was your weekend?" which was greeted with laughter, the outlet informed. The comedian then went on to speak briefly about "what happened" without directly mentioning the Oscars ceremony, or Will Smith. Click Here

'The Power of the Dog' tops Oscar nominations with 12; 'Dune' nabs 10

  Jane Campion's gothic western The Power of the Dog led nominations to the 94th Academy Awards, where streaming services more than ever before swept over Hollywood's top honors. In nominations announced Tuesday, Campion's film landed a leading 12 nominations, including nods for best picture, best director and all of its top actors: Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Campion, a nominee for 1993's The Piano, became the first woman to ever be nominated twice for best director. Last year, Chlo Zhao became just the second woman to ever win the award. Campion's director of photography, Ari Wegner, also became the second woman ever nominated for best cinematography. The only previous woman to do so was Rachel Morrison for Mudbound in 2018. Musician Jon Batiste leads Grammy Award nominations with 11

  Jon Batiste might be the Grammys biggest surprise: The multi-genre performer and recent Oscar winner made such an impression on voters that he scored the most nominations with 11 on Tuesday. Batiste earned an album of the year nod for We Are along with record of the year with Freedom, a feel-good ode to the city of New Orleans. Oscar Awards 2022  His nominations span several genres including R&B, jazz, American roots music, classical and music video. Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and HER each came away with the second-most nominations with eight by the time the Recording Academy was done announcing its nominees for its January 31 show. Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo both had seven nods. Along with Batiste's surprise domination, another shock was The Weeknd nabbing three nominations after the pop star claimed he would not allow his label to submit his music. Click Here

Coronavirus pandemic impact: Hosting of Oscars 2022 moved to March

  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has decided to delay the 2022 edition of the Oscars by a month. The award ceremony, which was earlier set for February 27, will now be held on March 27, 2022, the AMPAS said in a statement. The eligibility period for Academy Awards consideration, however, will return to the standard December 31 deadline. For the previous edition, the Academy made changes to the eligibility, extending it until February 28, 2021 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic . The rule change had enabled movies such as "The United States vs. Billie Holiday" and "Judas and the Black Messiah" to be considered for the awards. Click Here

Oscars 2021: 'Jallikattu' exits race, short film Bittu moves to next round

  " Jallikattu ", India's official entry in the Best International Feature category at the 93rd Academy Awards, is out of the Oscars race but the country is still in the fray with short film "Bittu" advancing to the next round in Best Live Action Short Film segment. Oscar Awards 2021 "Jallikattu", a Malayalam-language movie directed by filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery, is not part of the shortlist of 15 features that will be vying for a spot in the final five, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced on Wednesday.
